Depression is not a chemical imbalance in the brain

This is an excellent documentary detailing how the psychiatric drug industry was born and its powerful and profitable partnership with the drug industry, which has turned psychiatry into an $80 billion drug profit center.

Unfortunately, the evidence is overwhelmingly stacked against psychiatric drugs. It's becoming ever clearer that most of today's psychiatric diagnoses and subsequent drug treatment is a sham, successfully promoted to make you believe it's based on some scientific truth.

 

What is Neuropathy? 

Neuropathy is a condition of the nerves that causes numbness, tingling, pain or pins and needles sensations in the hands, feet, arms or legs. It occurs differently for different people, but it is always caused by nerve damage of some sort.  All Neuropathy is caused by damage to the nerves.

Nerves are the communication lines of the body.  Electrical signals from the brain travel through the nerves and give instructions to the various body parts.  The body receives information form the environment through the senses and sends this information to the brain via the nerves.

Nerve damage is the breakdown of the myelin sheath around the nerves.  Without this protection the electrical signals are not transferred properly.  As this nerve damage gets worse, the nerves either lose their ability to transmit information (numbness) or they start sending false signals (pain or tingling). 

Neuropathy is a condition where the nerves have sustained enough damage that there is noticeable numbness, pain and tingling.  

Sometimes the sources of the nerve damage will need to be reduced or eliminated in order to see results.  

Neuropathy, what to do about the pain, the tingling and the numbness.

It is called many names such as paresthesia, neuritis, neuralgia, dysesthensia, hypoesthesia, hypesthesia, hypalgesia, hypealgesia and hyperesthesia due to its many different kinds of symptoms.    But, what underlies all these symptoms?

The symptoms are created by this specific type of nerve damage. This nerve damage can come from too much sugar in the blood (the reason it is a side effect of diabetes). It can be caused by exposure to chemicals such as cancer treatments, poisons, alcoholism, or a side effect of some medications.   It can be the result of kidney or liver failure, infectious disease or nutritional deficiencies especially B vitamins.   The reasons are many; the damage they produce is the same.

What creates the problem is damage these things do to the outer lining of the nerve cell.   Cells have coverings much like an electrical wire has an insulation of plastic.  Have you ever seen a wire whose insulation is damaged – the electrical current doesn’t flow correctly. It can send electricity out from the area where it is damaged, it can stop the flow of electricity or it can damage what its supposed to be supplying electricity to.

A damaged nerve covering does the same thing.  It can send out “sparks” that cause tingling, it can stop the flow resulting in numbness.  It can create feelings of hot or cold or a sensitivity due to crossed signals.  It can definitely cause pain especially as the damage gets worse.

The idea is to fix this outer covering.  This is called the myelin sheath.  What is needed is specific B vitamins.  The only question is how to get these B vitamins in sufficient amounts so that the body can actually repair the damage.   Isolated B vitamins that are sold at the health food stores or local drug stores get washed out of the system too quickly to fix the damage.  It would be hard to take enough of this type of nutrients to make a difference.  You can’t get it from vitamins made in a laboratory.

What is needed is a whole food supplement with methylcobalamine and benfotiamine and other B vitamins that the body can use to repair the cells.  That is one of the functions of the body, to repair cells.  But it does need specific nutrients to do its job.  

Nutrients are what a body runs on.   A car runs on gas.  If you drive the car down the road, it uses up a steady amount of that gas.  If you take that same car and speed down the freeway, you will use up a lot of gas.   When you take a body “out on the freeway”, or put it under physical stress, it uses up a lot more nutrients.  Thus, getting the right supplements in the right amount is important.

Just as a car won’t drive without giving it gas.  A body can’t repair itself (or function correctly) without the proper nutrients it needs to “drive”. In the case of neuropathy, it needs these B vitamins.

Neuropathy can be a side effect of many things.   Although most often it is caused by too much sugar in the blood - Diabetes - there are many factors.

Chemotherapy and some drugs have neuropathy as a side effect and it can be caused by surgery damaging the nerves - there are others.

Improving Your Diabetic Condition With Exercise

The type 2 diabetic condition is brought about by a diet that is too high in carbohydrates and a lack of nutrients, which results in the insulin the body naturally produces becoming less and less effective in keeping blood sugar levels under control and in a normal range.

While change in diet and proper nutritional supplementation have a dramatic effect in controlling blood sugar naturally without the need for drugs or insulin, exercise can greatly contribute to the overall control of the diabetic condition, as can be seen in the following excerpt:

Higher Morning Sugar Levels?

Blood sugar can be kept at normal levels throughout the day, yet, many diabetics find that even though they have not eaten before bedtime, when they wake up in the morning their blood sugar levels are elevated. This is caused by something called the "dawn phenomenon":

"Although the mechanics of the dawn phenomenon aren't yet entirely clear, research suggests that the liver deactivates more circulating insulin during the early morning hours." [This results in sugar not being pushed into cells for energy but building up in the blood instead.]

Exercise Tip

An interesting fact that is not usually understood about exercise is that a person burns very few calories while exercising. However, the delayed fat-burning effects from exercise can be quite a lot. 

Most fat burning occurs 14 to 48 hours after, but only under specific conditions. 

Burning fat during this time depends on what you are eating during this time, how much stress you are experiencing, whether or not you have pain, how much you sleep and if you are avoiding sugar/carbs. 

Eating carbohydrates before, during or after you exercise will prevent fat from burning off. This includes sugar. 

Eat protein at least an hour and 15 minutes before exercising but don't fill yourself with protein. 

Intense anaerobic exercise triggers fat burning hormones but if the adrenals are fatigued then intense exercise will prevent weight loss because the stress glands are being overused. If the latter is the issue than engage in light aerobic exercise until your energy and sleep improves.
