Why Thyroid Medications Don’t Get Rid Of All Symptoms
Hey, It's Dr. Martin here…
In previous emails, I've mentioned how doctors have a HARD time helping people fix their hormones and if you suffer from sluggish thyroid symptoms then you KNOW what I'm talking about.
So today let's talk about the thyroid. Once a person is FINALLY diagnosed with hypothyroidism (I say finally diagnosed because most hypothyroid patients have symptoms for YEARS before anything shows up in their lab tests) they are usually prescribed Synthroid (Levothyroxine).
It is at this point things get weird. You see a person with a sluggish thyroid usually gains weight. This makes sense because the thyroid directly controls your speed of metabolism. Yet a hypothyroid patient on thyroid medication RARELY if EVER lose the weight they gained because of a sluggish thyroid!
Think about that for a minute. If a person has abnormal thyroid blood tests and is diagnosed with hypothyroidiss and then goes on thyroid meds and then their thyroid blood tests go back to "normal" then you'd think they SHOULD lose the weight gained because of a sluggish thyroid because, according to the doctor the meds are working.
But yet, in real life that RARELY happens. So the million-dollar question is Why does that happen?
It's because doctors don't understand how the thyroid works. Doctors think the thyroid operates all by itself. They believe the thyroid is the boss.
It's not.
The thyroid is a puppet. It only does what it's told and there are a lot of other things in your body that directly affect how your thyroid works.
This means that your thyroid can be normal with or without meds and still have thyroid symptoms!
As I've mentioned in the last few emails CORTISOL is a KING hormone that directly impacts your thyroid. You can have normal thyroid blood tests but if you have uncontrolled cortisol you will have thyroid symptoms.
I also mentioned INSULIN is another KING HORMONE.
Did you know your sensitivity to thyroid hormone (the ability your body has to use thyroid hormone) is it directly related to your triglycerides and HDL?
Higher triglyceride levels decrease your sensitivity to thyroid hormones and when your thyroid hormone sensitivity decreases you end up with sluggish thyroid symptoms even if your thyroid blood levels are normal!
The same is true with HDL if your HDL is LOW then your sensitivity to thyroid hormones decreases. Remember…
High triglycerides are really an insulin problem.
And low HDL levels are also an insulin problem.
So if you have an insulin problem you can end up with sluggish thyroid symptoms. Even if your thyroid blood levels are normal!
But there are many other things that can cause sluggish thyroid symptoms. Here are a few more:
Leaky Gut Syndrome
Estrogen dominance
Seed oils
and even a lack of protein intake.
Most people especially women don't get enough protein and when you don't get enough protein over a period of time your thyroid pays the price.
Your body needs the amino acids found in protein to build cells and also build the proteins in your body that are needed for hormones. So when you don't get enough protein your cells can break down, leading to autoimmune diseases like Hashimoto's.
I'd wager that one of the sharp increases in autoimmune disorders we see today (outside of gut health issues and seed oil consumption) it is caused by a lack of protein intake.
In short if you have sluggish thyroid symptoms even if you're on thyroid meds then you may also have a problem with:
• Cortisol
• Insulin
• Your gut
• Estrogen Dominance
• Seed oils
• Low protein intake.

Can Vitamin C Help Your Nerves?
Sorbitol (a form of sugar) travels to certain parts of the body where it builds up. These parts of the body are the lens of the eye where it forms a white milky film called cataracts, and the sciatic nerve (the big nerve that runs down your leg) where it can cause nerve damage (nerve pain).'
Evidence indicates that taking 2,000 mg a day of vitamin C may reduce the production of sorbitol and help strip sorbitol out of the body.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant. It is needed for tissue growth and repair, adrenal gland functions, healthy gums, skin and blood. It also aids in the production of anti-stress hormones, metabolism, protection against harmful effects of pollution, infection and enhances the immune system.
Camu camu is one of the highest known sources of natural vitamin C. Research indicates camu camu contains up to 56 times more vitamin C than a lemon and 50 times more vitamin C than an orange.
Recommended
Most Camu Camu sold on the market today is sold as camu camu powder in bags, or in capsules or tablets. 20 percent of camu camu powder is actual vitamin C.
If you have 500 mg of camu camu powder in a capsule - you are only getting 100 mg of Vitamin C.
If there are 60 capsules in a bottle, then the total amount of Vitamin C you would get in that bottle is 6,000 mg.
Often these bottles are sold at around eighteen to twenty dollars a bottle.
Each of RHP camu camu vitamin C tablets contains 200 mg of actual vitamin C. Each tablet contains 1,000mg of camu camu powder.
Their bottle has 120 tablets. The total amount of vitamin C you get in our bottle is 24,000 mg.
The RevitaHealth Vitamin C from camu camu is a whole food extract which contains bioflavonoids, protein and all the other food factors that enables the body to absorb, retain and utilize this vitamin C much more efficiently.

Think About the Drugs You Swallow
by Doug Kaufman (Know the Cause)
An English paper recently reported (read report) that certain common drugs you might be taking for depression, breathing problems, bladder problems, stomach problems, allergies and/or symptoms of Parkinson’s disease might be increasing your risk for dementia! They are called “anticholinergic drugs.”
As you may know, I happen to believe that many cases of depression, breathing problems, bladder problems, stomach problems, allergies and/or symptoms of Parkinson’s disease are related to fungal byproducts found commonly in our air, food supply and medications.
If you take drugs and aren’t interested in a lifestyle change, but you’re curious to know if your health problems are linked to these fungi, you might ask your doctor to consider helping you get off of drugs that might cause dementia and get on antifungal drugs like Sporanox, Lamisil, Griseofulvin or Thiabendazole.
You see, only a small handful of antifungal drugs exist, and these four antifungal drugs have been published as helping people with a disease that I believe is intimately related to fungus; cancer. If doctors don’t know that fungi play a role in cancer, they certainly won’t know it may play a role in your illness like depression, breathing problems, bladder problems, stomach problems, allergies and/or symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, either.
Fungus is called “the great masquerader” because it mimics so many diseases. Be careful with drugs that might be neurotoxic enough to provoke dementia. Ask your doctor if he/she would prescribe antifungal drugs instead for a few weeks. If they work, you may have a fungal condition that doesn’t need to be treated the rest of your life. Often, diet helps people with fungal illnesses!
