Some more on Deceptive Labels
Aminosweet® is a brand name for aspartame, a low-calorie sweetener.
It claims - Aspartame is known for its sugar-like taste without any lingering or metallic aftertaste, making it a popular choice for zero or low-calorie food and beverages1. It is also tooth- and diabetic-friendly because it is made from parts of protein rather than carbohydrates1.
The Ajinomoto Group, one of the largest producers of aspartame, rebranded their product as Aminosweet® in 2010 for marketing purposes. However, on food labels in the US and Canada, it must still be listed as aspartame.
The labeling in the US may change, of course, and so we wanted you to know

The Link Between Your Gut and Your Metabolism
Do you understand the full impact your metabolism has on your health?
Your metabolism affects your weight, energy, and can affect whether you develop Metabolic Syndrome, a group of conditions that can include high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, and high triglycerides, insulin resistance and
Do you know that the state of your gut health affects your metabolism?
How Your Gut Affects Your Metabolism
Your gut affects your metabolism in several ways, including:
Producing enzymes that help break down food and synthesize vitamins.
Creating energy from digested food, and regulating energy metabolism, so you have energy to do the activities you need and want to do.
As the largest endocrine organ in the body, the gut produces hormones that regulate metabolism and affect insulin sensitivity, glucose tolerance, fat storage and appetite.
Disruption of the gut can cause metabolic disorders, such as obesity, insulin resistance and Type 2 Diabetes.
Since gut health is an important part of metabolic health, here are some definitions to offer more understanding of the gut.
What is the Gut?
The human gut, also known as intestines, is a muscular tube that extends from the stomach to the anus.
What is the Microbiota?
Microbiota describes the microscopic organisms of a particular environment.
The human gut microbiota refers to the trillions of microbes (microscopic organisms that are too small to be seen by the naked eye), such as bacteria, that live in the human gut. They live in the “gut microbiome.”
What is the Microbiome?
Microbiome comes from Ancient Greek mikrós 'small' and bíos 'life'.
The microbiome is the community of microorganisms that can usually be found living together in any given habitat. The microbes include bacteria, fungi, and viruses. These communities live on the skin, the mouth, and especially the gut.
The human ‘gut microbiome’ is made up of the trillions of microorganisms that live in the intestinal tract and play a key role in digesting food and helping to absorb and synthesize nutrients.
What Happens When Your Gut is “Out of Balance”?
Most microbes in the body are useful, but they may become harmful when out of balance. There can be a predominance of harmful bacteria rather than beneficial bacteria. Some bacteria need to be in a correct ratio one to another for a healthy gut, and when the ratio is not correct, gut issues occur.
These days, many people suffer with a gut that is “out of balance” due to a diet of too many highly processed foods and not enough whole foods, not enough sleep, too much stress, food intolerances, and insufficient prebiotics and probiotics.
Disruption of the gut microbiome can cause numerous issues such as digestion issues, low energy and fatigue, insulin resistance and can even lead to metabolic disorders, such as hypertension, visceral obesity, high blood sugar and Type 2 Diabetes.
How Can You Improve Your Gut Health and Metabolism?
The most powerful way to improve your gut health and metabolism is through nutrition. Giving your body the nutrition it needs to thrive is the answer.

The Effects of Soda and Low-nutrient Foods on Children's Behavior, by Joel Fuhrman, M.D.
The standard American diet, chock full of soda and other sugary drinks, fast foods, and other low-nutrient foods, can have a major impact on the health and lives of our children. Rising rates of childhood obesity driven by this way of eating have received much attention; however, low-nutrient foods are still having negative effects on the physical and mental health of children who are not overweight. Children are not immune to the damaging health effects of the standard American diet, which can set them up for a lifetime of poor health ranging from heart disease to behavior problems and lower cognitive performance.
